The West Sussex West Cross Country 2011/12

The West Sussex West School Sport Partnership held the KS2 & KS3 Cross Country. It was a great day with hundreds of competitors. It was hosted at Bishop Luffa C of E School. A big thank you must go to Mr Brown for hosting and taking a lead in the organisation of the day. Phil Baker from Chichester runners kindly brought along his expertise and set up the course.

The event saw hundreds of young people competing at a very high level. The distances varied on the age groups but covered between 1850- 3300m. The event began with the yr 5 and 6 running together with some impressive finish times of under 6mins. The winning boy was Harry Smith from The March, while the winning girl was Olivia Wiseman from Jessie Younghusband. Olivia had a brilliant run, competing with the boys, finishing in an amazing 5mins 40secs. The year 6 & 7 races saw around 150 competitors boys and girls with impressive finishes from Josh Eeles, Ben Collins, Katie Bryne & Chloe Croad. The last races of the day saw the U14 girls then the boys covering distances of 2750m and 3300m respectively. The winning boy was Max Newton brilliantly representing Westergate Community School. The Girls saw Saskia Gardam of Bishop Luffa finish an impressive 30seconds above 2nd place.

It was a great day. School Games Organiser - Sean O’Connor commented: “ It was an excellent event with high quality competitors, Bishop Luffa had exceptional sports leaders assisting.  This allowed the event to run smoothly”
