Level 1 Award in Sports Leadership

The majority of schools in the partnership deliver the level 1 award (formally JSLA) to their KS4 students.  Schools choose to deliver the award in a variety of ways; in core PE lessons, out of hours or through fast track days.

Leaders in our partnership are identified by their red sports leader polo tops.  They are a fantastic work force of referees, coaches and event leaders.  We could not provide the number of high quality competitions and festival we do, without our sports leaders.  What did we do without them?!

SSCos can arrange for sports leaders to support primary school out of hours clubs in their family.  Leaders can be a great assess to 'support' staff, but muct not be left unsupervised with young people.  Please contact your SSCo for more information.

To find out more please visit our Level 1 Award in Sports Leadership resource section.

Level 1 Award in Dance Leadership

This award is new addition to those provided by Sports Leaders UK.  It has been piloted by St Philip Howard School.  It allow students to follow the units as covered in the Sports Leadership award, but focuses activities on planning, organising and leading dance activities.

This will compliment schools well that deliver GCSE dance and our resources section gives many examples of how the award could be introduced into the curriculum alongside GCSE dance.

Level 2 Award in Community Sports Leadership

Otherwise known as the CSLA, a few schools in our partnership deliver this award to their 16+ students.  The award is a natural progression from the level 1 awards, but can be undertaken without completing a level 1 award first.   Level 2 leaders have additional experience and confidence.  Again, the course can be delivered in a variety of ways to suit individual schools.  The resource sections provides many documents and templates to help in the set up or delivery of the CSLA.

Level 3 Award in Higher Sports Leadership

The Level 3 Award in Higher Sports Leadership enables students aged 17+ to lead un-supervised groups of people in sport and recreational activities. It has been introduced to sixth form students at BRCC.  This qualification builds upon the skills and experience gained through the Level 2 Award in Community Sports Leadership. It is a fun and practical qualification, with the only entrance requirement being that candidates should have successfully completed the Level 2 Award in Community Sports Leadership; however there are no final examinations to sit.

All of the awards undertaken by schools through Sports Leaders UK are nationally recongised.  To find out more check out our resources section and visit: http://www.sportsleaders.org./our-awards.aspx
