Our local Partners
The West Sussex West SSP works with several key stakeholders at a district and county level.
County Level
- The 9 SSPs across Sussex work closely to ensure there is a consistent countywide approach to competition, club links and national strategies.
- The 5 West Sussex SSPs work with the County PE advisor to ensure a coherent approach to Continuing Professional Development opportunities for staff and coaches.
- We work with Active Sussex (County Sports Partnership) particularly when co-ordinating community volunteersing opportunities and developing club link.
- The work of Carolyn Carr, from West Sussex Ahead of the Game also influences the work of the West Sussex West SSP ensuring a wider understanding in schools of the Olympic legacy.
- The SSP works with many National Governing Bodies (NGBs), but has particularly strong links with the RFU, Sussex Cricket and the Sussex FA. All these organisations suppport competition, leadership and CPD opportunities.
Local Level
- The SSP has strong links with all the locality groups across Chichester and Bognor Regis. Localities have been incredibly supportive of the SSP and have been able to provide additional funding to support Gifted & Talented projects for able Yr 5/6 students in PE and School Sport.
- Inspire Leisure now work closely with our SSP as deliverer of some national initiatives such as 'Sport Unlimited'. This has provided hundreds of young people with free sports coaching in order to encourage participation within the wider community.
- The West Sussex West SSP has created a Western Area Disability Group, which is chaired by our Inclusion SSCo. The group has representation from local primary and secondary schools in addition to local community providers of disability sport.
- Headteachers are key partners to the SSP. All 64 schools in Chichester and Bognor Regis are actively involved in the SSP, which would not be possible without supportive headteachers.
- The SSP will also be developing partnerships with local health providers, to ensure there is a collaborative approach with inactive young people.
- Chichester District Council also works in partnership with the SSP in the delivery of 'Sport Unlimited' projects. Some leadership students have also supported at events organised by the council.
